A lot of children ask me questions, so I have listed the most popular questions for you.
1. What is Duinrell?
Duinrell is a large holiday and amusement park, in Wassenaar, close to The Hague. You can have fantastic day out in the amusement park with its many exciting attractions and the tropical Tiki Pool. You can also take a break or a longer holiday at Duinrell, staying on the campsite, in a Duingalow or in the Duinhostel.
2. What is the total length of all the slides in Duinrell’s Tiki Pool?
More than a 1000 metres (one kilometer) of slides!!
3. How many people visit Duinrell, every year?
Since 1984, more people have been coming to Duinrell every year. In recent years, Duinrell has had between 1,2 and 1,3 million visitors per year, making it one of the most popular parks in the Netherlands.
4. What is the oldest attraction in the park?
De Carousel was built in 1864 making it all of…… 138 years old! It’s still in great shape though, giving lots of children a merry-go-round every year.
5. How long has Duinrell been going?
Duinrell was founded in 1935 It was then a large playground and walking area. It is now 2002 so that means that Duinrell has been around for 67 years.
6. How big is Duinrell holiday and amusement park?
The park measures more than a one million square metres. That’s 200 football pitches put together!!
7. What does the name "Duinrell" actually mean?
Duinrell means: spring in the dunes. Duinrell actually originated on a shoreline rampart in the dunes.
8. How many people work at Duinrell?
There are about 100 staff member permanently employed. In addition to this, approximately 350 seasonal workers are taken on every year. About 600 staff in total is employed annually on the estate.
9. Can you also stay overnight in the park?
Yes, you can spend a weekend or a longer holiday at Duinrell. You can camp on the big campsite, or stay in a Duingalow. A Duingalow is a sort of bungalow, a chalet, where all the family can stay. A whole group of you can stay in the Duinhostel. There are approximately 1200 camping places and 417 Duingalows in total. The Duinhostel can accommodate 104 persons.
10. What is the fastest attraction?
That’s the Splash, which travels at 60 km per hour.
